Briefing

Last week, we were paired with blacksmiths that had similar work to ours, we have been asked to create a zine or story of some sort representing them and their work while also keeping in mind we can add our own twist and style to it.

My first initial thought was to look at some of the work he does, he creates things that like to 'make people look the other way' in his words.

Here is some of his work.

He is also very much into heavy metal covers and his best piece was of a tree holding an eye, he had also shown me some Japanese stylised work with a twist that he was interested in, this kind of work can very much relate to art movements like Art Noveau and Art Deco. The reason being that art like this relates to artists like Alphonse Mucha with it very much being 'dark art.'

After having the briefing I decided to start mind mapping to come up with ideas on which way I could take this project. The first idea that came to mind was to re-create his projects with my style of illustration.
